I can’t help but think I’ve missed something. Although growing up in a very religious home and still considering myself a fairly religious person, I’ve been all but entirely ignorant to the beauty of traditional gospel music.
Daniel Martin Moore (of Dear Companion fame) has just released a spiritual album that pays homage to his gospel roots. Mixing original songs and reimagined covers of traditional tunes, Moore has crafted a pretty stunning album throughout.
The most striking song is the title track, “In the Cool of the Day”, that haunting piano coupled with Daniel’s strong but smooth vocals just kills me every time.
